Not a traditional safe-for-work game with added NSFW content, the game of Treatment is itself engaging with its unique flavor. Treatment is a game of managing resources and grappling with minigames - your treatments - and determining on a minute-to-minute basis whether it is a better idea to submit or resist, and by how much you would like to do so. Is it your goal to escape, or to work with your doctor as she 'cures' you? That is for you to decide. Standard mode presents the opportunity to escape, if you can figure out how, but there is no reward, no gated content behind staving off Treatment's NSFW elements. There is no 'optimal' way to play beyond what you find enjoyable.

Into the Crucible

Treatment explicitly teaches its player very little. You will be cast into the fires of kink and they will either temper or melt you. There are perhaps two or three 'real' tutorial pop-ups through the game. The rest of the game relies on you, the player, feeling out how the game works by pressing buttons, thinking critically, and using your intuition. The intention is immersion: neither you or the protagonist have experienced any of this before. You have plenty of time to learn, and the consequences for 'failure' are minimal - explore, relax, take your time!

You Are(n't) Czarina

Treatment features a short, loose introduction as Czarina Vael, a self-proclaimed 'private investigator' down on her luck. All she currently has going for her is that she is an Esper, a being capable of harnessing ESP (using a pair of special bracelets she won't have during the game). She's a sucker for a pretty face, she's willing to bend the rules to get the job done - but she has a surprisingly strong sense of justice motivating her nosiness.

Or are you Czarina? Treatment is written loosely enough that you could choose to ignore this. You can name Czarina whatever you please - the game is designed so you, the player, can choose to self-insert as the asylum's latest intake.

Treatment is built for self-imposed challenges and roleplay. Does your Czarina lack the ability to resist hypnotism, so she must follow every hypnotic command issued to her? Does your Czarina have a crush on a particular nurse, going out of her way to please them?
